Creepy Magazine

When I was a kid I read a LOT of comic books but there were only a few comic magazines that would turn up on store shelves. The Warren Publications horror books were scary looking and I only occasionally used my meager funds to take one home. I leaned more toward EERIE but CREEPY was a good book too with more than one story printed within its pages adding to my young nightmare theater. One of the extra elements these stories had that regular comic books did not was the inclusion of some really sexy images that intrigued but confused me. It was a long time before I knew exactly why the sight of Vampirella was so.... fascinating. I really need to try to get some of those hardbound reprints I see on store shelves now. Nostalgia and horror is a great combination!

My mother would let me buy Wrestling magazines and comic books but not these. I had to wait until we visited the big city once every couple of months. My cousin would squirrel these away for me and slip me the 'package' before I left for home. Most kids had porn to hide. With me it was Creepy, Errie and Vampirella.

I almost never got a copy of Vampirella but I grabbed several Creepys and Eeries as I could. I only ever got a handful but they were eye-opening to say the least.
